LUCINDA H. GRIGGS FOUNDATION GIVES BACK
"Fighting Breast Cancer in Our Neighborhood"

Lucinda's Walk
2026 Recap
Since the completion of Lucinda’s Walk on October 18, 2025, followed by our Pickleball Playdate on November 15, 2025, our community came together in a powerful way to raise funds in support of women and families affected by breast cancer. These events allowed the Lucinda H. Griggs Foundation to do exactly what we were created to do: provide both institutional support and direct, compassionate assistance to those walking through this disease.
Where Your Donations Went
Proceeds from our 2025 fundraising season were distributed in two important ways:
1. Community & Medical Partners
A portion of all funds raised was donated to two organizations that play a vital role in the fight against breast cancer and in patient recovery:
-
Emory Winship Cancer Center — supporting research, treatment, and clinical care
-
TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Center — providing holistic healing, emotional support, and survivorship resources
These partnerships ensure that women not only receive treatment, but also the long-term care, guidance, and recovery services needed to heal fully.
2. Direct Support to Women in Our Community
One of the most meaningful missions of Lucinda’s Walk is to support women right here in our neighborhoods who are facing breast cancer in real and immediate ways. In 2025, we were honored to provide direct financial assistance to two women:
Carel Ann Moore — Atlanta, Georgia
Carol Ann Moore, a lifelong Atlantan and proud Grady baby, grew up in Southeast Atlanta’s Pool Creek neighborhood and attended George High School. She was diagnosed with cancer in June 2025 and has since been undergoing radiation treatments every two months. Her final treatment is scheduled for February 2026.
Because of her illness, Carol Ann has been unable to work for nearly a year, and her employer was unable to hold her position. Lucinda’s Walk was able to provide temporary financial assistance to help ease the burden during this incredibly difficult season.
We are grateful to Carol Ann for allowing us to stand beside her and support her as she continues her healing journey.
Rotonia “Tonia” Wright
Our second 2025 recipient, Rotonia Wright — affectionately known as Tonia — was diagnosed with cancer in July 2025. Through a series of medical evaluations, she learned that she would need to undergo a double mastectomy, which is scheduled for March 11, 2026.
Tonia is the daughter of longtime family friends, Nate and Linda Moore, and her story came to us through the deep relationships that Lucinda’s Walk was built upon. During the presentation of her assistance, our founders had the privilege of sitting with Tonia, hearing her fears, and offering both encouragement and support drawn from their own family’s breast cancer journey.
Lucinda’s Walk was able to provide temporary financial assistance to Tonia as she prepares for surgery and recovery.
A Community-Powered Mission
Every step walked, every paddle swung, and every dollar donated made this impact possible. Your support allows Lucinda’s Walk to serve women not only through major medical institutions, but also through deeply personal, community-based care — honoring both the science of healing and the human experience of it.
From all of us at the Lucinda H. Griggs Foundation, thank you for being part of this work, this mission, and this legacy .

WHO WE ARE
Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in the actions of our initiatives. From the moment we started our work in 2012, we understood that by working together we could overcome the challenge of beating breast cancer in our community through collective servitude. We strive to make a positive change in all of our pursuits.
Thank you for your continued support and donations!
